Problem as de Apple Fighting Shock MacBook Pro
Last year saw the Apple Debut of the first ARM-powered macOS laptops with MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Excited early users of Apple Silicon laptops drove Mac platform sales figures higher than ever .
But is there a problem with these new machines? Will it give consumers reason to think again about a purchase this summer?

Users in various Apple communities, including official forums and the popular Reddit channel , are reporting unexpected damage to their laptop screens;
“I just closed and opened my MacBook Pro and it broke while sitting. Apple decided it's my fault. "
“… I noticed this with mine too last night. There are no signs of impact on the case side or the screen side, but the internal LCD is definitely cracked about 4 "long."
“This had just happened to me when opening my M1, it hasn't moved from my desk since purchase and it's only 15 days old, Apple must have a problem as support immediately said they would fix it for free, but it will take a while . weather…"
Although the external design of current MacBook Pro laptops has remained static, internal changes would have been made to accommodate the new chip architecture and other electronic design elements, I would assume these would all be lower case, but as with everything it must be considered all design.
A number of suggestions have been made as to the ultimate trigger at breaks, with foreign objects trapped between the display and the keyboard base, and excessive torque is imparted to the display when the unit is closed. To be sure, Apple has the data on the damaged drives that it has repaired or replaced to understand the causes, but nothing has been communicated directly to consumers so far.
This is not the first time that Apple has faced problems with its MacBook screens. A series of failures that began in 2016, dubbed 'fluxgate,' saw a design flaw in the MacBook's display assembly that put too much pressure on the flat cable that would eventually degrade over time. Fixie's Whitson Gordon :
“Apple, in an effort to make its laptops even slimmer and sleeker, is using thin and fragile flex cables to connect the display to the display controller board below the touch bar. In this space-saving design, the thin cable wraps around a small circuit board where it is taut when the laptop is opened and closed. After a year or two of opening and closing the laptop, the cable will wear out, causing the screen to start failing with a distinctive stage light effect. ”
Many MacBook users will look at their new M1-powered MacBooks and wonder if another design flaw has crept into the laptop screen as Apple continues to pursue the idea of ever-thinner laptops. They will no doubt also wonder if it will take Apple that long to recognize the problem and address it under warranty.
