Xbox Series X: Assassin's Creed Valhalla in 4K… but at 30 fps "only"

The future Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Xbox Series X will be 4K compatible… but will not exceed 30 fps.

No "4K 60 fps" for Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Officialized with great fanfare a few days ago, the new installment in the Assassin's Creed saga, Valhalla , is expected at the end of this year 2020. The game, still signed by Ubisoft, will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but it will also be playing on Xbox Series X and PS5. Ubisoft is therefore replaying the “ cross-gen ” opus card  , as was the case in 2013 with the Black Flag episode.

The best consoles

Sony PS5 Digital Edition € 399

Nintendo Switch € 292

Microsoft Xbox Series X € 499

Sony PS5 € 499

Very (too?) Widely put forward since its announcement, the Xbox Series X version of this same Assassin's Creed Valhalla will obviously benefit from the joys of an "Enhanced" mode. However, if the players dreamed (quite legitimately by the way) of a 4K mode at 60 fps, it would seem that the game is ultimately not able to climb beyond the now classic "3o fps".

Assassin's Creed Valhalla… a cross-gen game

It was a spokesperson for Ubisoft who confirmed the information to the Portuguese version of Eurogamer. “  We can currently guarantee that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will run at least at 30 fps on Xbox Series X. It will benefit from faster load times, and improved graphics made possible by the console. We can't wait to show you the beautiful world we are creating in 4K resolution ” explains Ubisoft.

Like the Origins and Odyssey opus on Xbox One X, it therefore seems that the next Assassin's Creed Valhalla is also only playable at 30 fps on the (future) premium console from Microsoft, Ubisoft again favoring the fluid graphics. Obviously, as mentioned just above, Assassin's Creed is a game Valhalla "  cross gen ", developed mainly for our current consoles, and optimized on SP5 X Series and Xbox . This was already the case with Black Flag in 2013, a game already very beautiful on PS3 and Xbox 360, and which simply benefited from some more or less notable improvements on PS4 and Xbox One.

In other words, although expected by some to be the first “  next gen ” game, we will have to restrain (a little) its enthusiasm, and finally accept that the next game signed Ubisoft will be an “  enhanced ” game, and not a real next-gen game. To see now if Ubisoft will offer various modes, including one allowing to play in 60 fps, with graphics a little less fine. Of course, we imagine that the game will also be offered in 4K 30 fps on PS5.
