Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3: everything that has changed in a year in Samsung folding
Samsung has summoned us today to introduce us to its new folding and a couple of accessories. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 are here the third and second generation of two folding devices with a different approach and price range.
Both terminals present important novelties with respect to their predecessors, as is the case of the camera under the screen of the Z Fold 3 or the second larger screen of the Z Flip 3. To learn about everything that has changed in Samsung folding , we face the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 with the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 against the Galaxy Z Flip 5G .

We start with the most premium and expensive Samsung mobile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The approach is the same as the rest of the Galaxy Fold of the past: a kind of tablet that can be folded in half to be a more typical size of a phone. The size is not very different from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, although it is slightly lighter when using aluminum. An important new feature is that the Fold 3 is IPX8 certified . No previous Fold was certified for strength.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has two screens just like its predecessor: 7.6-inch main and folding and 6.2-inch secondary, in both cases with a refresh rate of 120 Hz . There is no change in screen resolution from the Fold 2 (QXGA + on the main and HD + on the secondary), although it is 29% brighter.
However, the absolute star of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the front camera of the main screen, which is hidden under the screen , being the first Samsung device to include this feature. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 has that hole-punch lens on the screen. In exchange for having the main screen completely clean on the Z Fold 3, the main selfie camera drops a bit in resolution, being 4 megapixels instead of the 10 megapixels of the Fold 2.
The main changes are the camera under the screen, the support for the S Pen, the IPX8 certification and the Snapdragon 888
The rest of the lenses remain unchanged from the previous generation. There is an additional selfie camera on the secondary screen for use with the terminal folded down and a main module with three 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto sensors with 2x zoom.
Another important change of this generation is that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is compatible with the S Pen or, rather, with the S Pen, as there are two to choose from: S Pen Pro or S Pen Fold Edition. The S Pen is not stored in the body of the device, although some special sleeves have a place to store it.
Of course, there is an increase in power in this generation, going from the Snapdragon 865+ to the Snapdragon 888, although the RAM and storage remain at the same 12 GB and 256 or 512 GB to choose. Few changes also in the battery: from 4,500 mAh in the Fold 2 to 4,400 mAh in the Fold 3 , a little less. An interesting change is that its starting price, although it is to be confirmed, has also been reduced.

Del Samsung Galaxy Z Flip AL Galaxy Z Flip 3
The second folding that we have known today is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 which, although its numbering indicates it otherwise, is actually the second generation of the folding in shell format , since there has been no Galaxy Z Flip 2, except for the original version that was 4G and the reissue with 5G connectivity.
Again, we do not have a radical change from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to the Z Flip 3, but rather a series of adjustments and improvements, especially in its displays. The main display is still a 6.7-inch flexible AMBLED panel with Full HD + resolution, but now with a refresh rate of 120 Hz . The secondary screen grows in size, going from 1.1 inches on the Z Flip 5G to 1.9 inches on the Z Flip 3. More size and more possibilities with six widgets to choose from and more notifications that you can see without unfolding your mobile.
On the cameras, Samsung has done a bit of recycling, including exactly the same setup from the previous generation. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has a 10-megapixel selfie camera perforated on the screen and a main camera, on the back, with two 12-megapixel lenses. The only difference is that on the Z Flip 3 it is somewhat more comfortable to use the main camera to take selfies, since the secondary screen is larger.

There is also an increase in power, going from the Snapdragon 865+ in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G to the Snapdragon 888 in the Z Flip 3 . The RAM memory remains at 8 GB and in the storage comes a variant of 128 GB that was not available before, allowing the terminal to have a somewhat lower starting price.
No news in sight in the battery, which remains exactly the same capacity of 3,300 mAh. Where there are changes again is in the IPX8 certification , since the previous Z Flip did not have any protection against dust or water. The starting price, although it is yet to be confirmed, in principle has received a significant reduction compared to the previous generation.
